Desk inkwell with a card/pen tray, made of silver plate from the United Kingdom, estimated to date from 1910–1920, in an Art Nouveau/Edwardian style, weighing 998 g and measuring 20 x 14 x 9 cm.
Description from the seller
Trademark on the bottom: “SHEFFIELD CHELSEA” with a crown and two stylized lions.
• The object is a desk inkwell with a tray for cards/pens, probably in silver plate (silvering on metal) and not in solid silver.
• The decorative style recalls Art Nouveau / Edwardian (circa 1900-1925).
The mark “Sheffield Chelsea” is typical of English electroplated metal productions made in the Sheffield area, famous for silverware and silver plate. It does not correspond to the official British sterling silver hallmarks, so it is very likely that this is a silver-plated item and not 925 silver.
