Solex Hanging Pressure Lamp, a rare Italian inverted pressure lamp attributed to Solex, dating from the 1930s, in good used condition with minor signs of age; dimensions 32 × 32 × 35 cm; not in working order.
Description from the seller
Excellent specimen of a flipped-press lantern (“donut” model) produced in Italy by the historic SOLEX company, dating from the 1930s to the 1950s. It is a piece of industrial and maritime archaeology with great charm and rarity, far harder to find on the market compared to the classic vertical models.
The item is presented in excellent mechanical and aesthetic condition, having benefited from a recent, meticulous conservation-restoration intervention: the surface has been carefully cleaned and protected by applying professional neutral wax, which has stabilized and halted the progression of natural oxidation, preserving the honest patina of time so beloved by collectors. The Solex graphic logo enclosed in the oval and the inscription “MADE IN ITALY” are perfectly legible and sharp on the lower enamel plate. The Solex brand is also present on the dial of the pressure gauge and at the center of the bakelite knob.
The lamp is mechanically complete with all its original internal parts. It includes the intact burner head (with non-deformed holes), the inner cup for alcohol preheating, and all the levers. Original vintage pressure gauge with a clearly visible graduated scale 0.5 - 3 atm. Original black knurled bakelite regulation knob with a metal insert marked.
Lateral inspection hatch for ignition perfectly mobile, complete with the lobed operating knob.
Original and intact lower spring clips for securing the glass.
Vintage suspension chain with elongated links, hand-bent, complete with the upper ring. An ideal item for a high-end collection, display in industrial/vintage-styled environments, or as a perfect base for a definitive functional restoration. Original non-electrified.
