This impressive raw sphalerite specimen fascinates with its exceptional transparency and the intense color effect, which is especially spectacular under lighting. In ordinary light, the piece displays warm honey, amber, and deep orange-brown tones with highly glossy crystal faces and a glassy sheen. The natural structure consists of numerous angular crystal facets, reflections, and fine internal planes that give the piece enormous optical depth.
Under transmitted light, the mineral transforms into a nearly glowing play of color in intense red, orange, and golden fire. The translucent areas appear almost like melted lava or liquid amber, creating an exceptionally vibrant radiance. The numerous natural fracture surfaces produce countless light reflections and prismatic effects, making the piece appear constantly different depending on the viewing angle.
Sphalerite is among the most fascinating collectible minerals and is known for its high luster and strong refractive properties.
