Description from the seller

Seal with the original-fire brand.

Materials and Build Quality
Rosewood Birdseye Veneer (Flame Mahogany): The front of the piece and the swing-top showcase superb cabinetmaking, selecting the mahogany grain in a symmetric, clean pattern of great visual impact.

Structure: Exceptionally solid noble wood, heavy and completely sound and free from infestation.

Desk: Retains its original leather upholstery (badana) with a perimeter embossed gold frieze hot-stamped. It shows craquelure and natural wear from its years, but it is completely firm, nourished and without cracks.

Period Hardware: Scales, book hinges and original loop pulls in polished brass from the period.

High-End Technical Details. Interior in "Amphitheatre": When you open the lid, a spectacular “office” unfolds in a complex concave curve (amphitheatre), a display of technique that was only used in the most expensive desks of the workshop. It features small curved drawers and intact organizer compartments.

Milano Glues Made by Hand: The drawers show the fine irregular joints cut by hand by the carpenter, an absolute guarantee of preindustrial craftsmanship.

Original Key and Locks: Supplied with its original functional key that smoothly operates the inset brass locks.

Original Back Panel: Period back panel joined to the frame with animal-impact glue (bone) original, glassy and dark. No patches, modern nails or synthetic adhesives.

State of Conservation: The piece is in extraordinary condition for its age. It does not require structural woodworking restoration. It shows light signs of use and patina on the top surface due to its age, which do not detract one iota from the piece’s beauty. A purely conservative servicing has been performed: gentle cleaning, nourishment of the exterior mahogany and deep hydration of the interior leather. Ready to shine in a study, design lounge, or library.

Size and Delivery Conditions:

Dimensions: 90x140x38
Pickup: Local pickup in Barcelona / Catalonia is strongly recommended and preferred, at the buyer’s expense, due to the piece’s weight and delicacy. The furniture is located on the ground floor to facilitate loading.

Shipping: If shipping is required, the management, contracting, and costs of the art-grade or moving transport agency will be exclusively borne by the buyer.
