Victorian open-shelf bookcase in ebony wood, dating to 1850–1900, with a richly carved front and decorative molding, in good used condition with minor signs of age.
Description from the seller
Elegant open-shelved bookcase in ebonized wood, finely carved, dating from the 19th century in Victorian style, featuring a rectangular structure and rich decorative work on the front. The frame presents refined relief carvings with grapevine, grape clusters, and foliage motifs that embellish the side stiles and the upper and lower horizontal bands. The interior is organized on three levels of support, divided centrally by turned columns, which confer elegance and harmony to the entire composition. The upper, broad, linear shelf provides an additional surface. The dark finish shows evident signs of wear, abrasions, and natural surface wear, which reveal at various points the warm tone of the underlying wood, giving the piece an authentic antique charm. The structure rests on small spherical feet and features a simpler rear workmanship, with visible wooden structural elements. A piece with great decorative character, ideal for displaying books, collectibles, and artistic accessories, perfect for studies, living rooms, and classic or refined interiors.
