Decorative reproduction of a half-armour for a table, mounted on a turned wood pedestal.
Type and Style
• Model: Reproduces a half suit of armour for a foot soldier/pikeman from the 16th–17th century (Renaissance/early modern period).
• Helmet: Morion with a crest and a boat-shaped brim.
• Torso and protections: Breastplate (chest plate with incised or painted volute decoration), spaulders and rerebraces with articulated lames, and tassets (the faulds with overlapping plates connected by straps).
• Materials: Sheet metal (presumably iron/steel cast and worked by raising with a brunete/antiqued finish), buckles and fittings in leather/synthetic leather, stand in wood.
Era and Manufacture
• Era: Second half of the 20th century (roughly the 1960s–1980s).
• Origin: Typically Toledoan (Spain) or Italian production, very common in furniture collecting and historical art souvenirs of the period.
Conditions
• The overall structure and articulations are intact.
• There is surface oxidation consistent with age, a bit of dust at the joints and a slight aging of the wooden stand and straps, elements that attest to its age without compromising its scenic appearance.
