AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Explanation: in cel animation the creator draws the moving parts of the animation on transparent sheets, or "cels". 24 cels are needed for one second of a cartoon. The advantage is that fewer drawings are needed, because the cels for the same movement can be reused. At the beginning of the last century cel animation was invented in America. Animated film became a market product thanks to Walt Disney that had to be produced quickly. To save time, the technique was devised in which moving parts and non-moving parts of the drawing could be separated from each other. The animation is first drawn in pencil (line drawing) and then placed on a clear transparent sheet (cel). Because of the transparency, multiple layers can be worked over each other.

On December 1, 2010 the cultural heritage of Marten Toonder (all the work that Marten Toonder himself made) was officially transferred by the heirs to the Letterkundig Museum Leiden and has since then been the property of the Dutch State. In November 2018 the archive of Marten Toonder Studios was donated to the Literature Museum in The Hague and to the Eye Filmmuseum in Amsterdam. See the last photo.

Due to the developments above, it is excluded that any original work by Marten Toonder himself and Marten Toonder Studios will be offered "in the market" from this inheritance.

About parsonage;
Journalist Argus made his debut in the story The Monster of Loch Ness from 1947/48 as a sewer journalist, hence perhaps his rat-like appearance. He is often referred to as: the journalist who called himself Argus. Argus, named after the mythological giant with a hundred eyes Argus Panoptes, represents the Rommeldamse media, as a reporter for all known Rommeldamse newspapers: the Rommelbode, the Rommeldammer and the Rommeldamse Courant. His employer is the newspaper magnate O. Fanth Mzn, with whom he often is at odds. Argus is always after scoops that fall into several categories, notably front-page news and the editorials. He does not disdain sewer journalism either. In De aamnaak Argus writes horoscopes for the Almanak van Super and Hieper and it appears that his name is a pseudonym for Kwerulijn Hakstroo. Also in De volvetters he teams up with these two businessmen as a writer for slicksters. Argus played an important role in "Als begrijpt wat ik bedoel", the evening-long feature film of Tom Poes and Heer Bommel.

Lot: beautiful, original film cel of Argus. This cell (preserved, because almost all production material was destroyed at the time) was made by Marten Toonder Studios and was indeed used for the film. When watching the film you encounter the scene. A wonderful piece of animation art.

Also see the photos that are part of the description and give a good impression of what is being offered.
