About Bernhard Bloch:
(1836–1909 or died 1915) was a prominent Austrian-Hungarian or Bohemian ceramic manufacturer and art dealer, known for his manufactory in Eichwald (today Dubí, Czech Republic).
Details about Bernhard Bloch:
Activity: He was a prominent industrialist and art patron whose company produced decorative ceramics, especially majolica and terracotta, in the styles of Historicism, Jugendstil (Art Nouveau) and Art Deco.
Products: Among the items produced were vases, figurines, busts, jardinières, bowls, stove and wall plaques, as well as the particularly famous figurative tobacco humidors (humidors), which were valued for their detailed and refined workmanship.
Manufacture: Around 1899 he took over the "Tschinker'ische Majolikafabrik" in Eichwald and continued it under his name "Bernhard Bloch, Porzellan-, Ofen- und Terracottafabriken." The products were often marked with a pressed "BB" logo, sometimes together with "Eichwald" or "Austria."
Artistic collaboration: Between 1895 and 1930 Gustav Klimt was among the artistic collaborators for the company. Designs by the Wiener Werkstätte, Josef Hoffmann and Dagobert Peche were also executed.
