Description from the seller
Up for auction: a fascinating and refined pair of wall sconces dating from the 1930s–1940s, authentic pieces of Italian antique from the first half of the 20th century. Characterized by a refined sculptural workmanship that recalls Neoclassical and Baroque tastes, these lamps feature a mirrored, symmetrical structure ideal for framing mirrors, paintings, or enriching historic and elegant interiors. Subject and Sculptural Quality: The main body of each sconce is formed by the three‑dimensional, dynamic figure of a winged putto (or cherub) finely chiselled. The plasticity of the casting shows a splendid definition in the anatomical details and in the expressions of the faces, typical of Italian artistic production of the interwar period.
