AI-assisted summary
Description from the seller
Medieval war hammer / battle hammer – iron - decorated
Object: Historical war hammer or battle hammer
Material: iron, forged
Era: Probably medieval or late medieval
Condition: Antiqued, heavily age-patinated condition
Description
For sale is an extraordinary, hand-forged–looking iron hammer in a historical weapon form. The piece is characterized by its distinctive design, the unusual form, and the clearly visible decorations.
The hammer head features a wide, rectangular striking surface with serrated or incised edges. The metallic body shows a pronounced dark patina, traces of corrosion and age-related surface changes that give the piece a rustic, historical appearance.
Especially noticeable are the crossed lines, geometric patterns and diamond-shaped engravings on the side panels. The elongated, curved tip as well as the opposite hammer-like section give the object a striking silhouette, as found in historical bladed weapons.
The piece also has a characteristically shaped shaft/mounting area with eyelets and openings. The exact original construction and use should be determined more precisely through expert examination.
Condition
* Dark, irregular patina
* Traces of corrosion and oxidation
* Surface wear and minor material irregularities
* Geometric decorations and engravings
Please note the photos as an essential part of the condition description. No restoration, material analysis or conservation examination has been documented.
