Antique Italian walnut chest of drawers from Varese, dating to the late 19th century (circa 1880–1900), in solid walnut with brass hardware, measuring 118 cm wide, 52 cm deep and 105 cm high, with four graduated drawers and one original key for the first drawer, in good condition with signs of aging including minor blemishes and patina.
Description from the seller
Antique Italian walnut chest of drawers dating to the late 19th century, circa 1880–1900.
Crafted in solid walnut wood with a warm reddish-brown finish and attractive natural wood grain. The rectangular top sits above four graduated drawers, previously each decorated with elongated oval moulded outlines (which are being missed due to the falling off) and fitted with multiple metal escutcheons and rectangular drop handles. The drawers retain their traditional metal hardware, adding to the piece’s understated antique character. The chest stands on turned feet at the front and features a simple, solid wooden construction with a plinth base and plain side panels.
The piece displays a naturally aged patina, with visible scratches, marks, natural wood cracks, colour variations and wear consistent with age and use. A practical and characterful antique suitable for traditional, rustic or eclectic interiors.
There is only one original key for the first drawer, the rest are missing.
Presented of moth holes (seen on photos), preferred to be treated.
