France origin, mid-century modern linen napkins, ten pieces, 68 x 61 cm, white damask linen with satin bands, hand-embroidered initials JK, in good condition for age with some wear and small tears.
Description from the seller
Lot of 10 napkins in white linen. Ancient French napkins from the late 19th / early 20th century in damask linen with good-quality satin bands, apart from a few worn by use, large, for lunch or dinner, with initials "JK" hand-embroidered and, by their white color, they match any type of crockery and table linens. Raised monogram in a circle, at the center of each napkin. In close-up you can read 2 letters, sometimes a third small letter in the middle. It was the tradition: every family embroidered its initials on all its household linens.
Because of their composition, they can be machine-washed frequently without deteriorating.
Napkins. Ten in total, 68 x 61 cm. This is the classic size.
Condition: good for their age apart from those with stains and small tears.
Ideal for a table, a house in Provence, or an antique collection.
