J. Darcourt - CHIPARUS - H. 66 cm - Sculpture, Le vainqueur - 66 cm - Marble, Metal - 1930

Magnificent and rare Art Deco sculpture, representing an Olympic athlete holding a laurel leaf, in metal with a bronze-like green patina. The figure rests on a Portoro marble base, and is signed J. Darcourt, the pseudonym of the great Demetre H. Chiparus (1886–1947).

This work, titled "Olympic Salute" or "The Victor," is a faithful representation of the male body, of its musculature... a masterful piece.

This very large sculpture is in almost perfect condition!
