Description from the seller

Elegant pair of tall pedestals / plant stands in solid wood, characterized by a slender structure and rectangular glazed ceramic medallions with multicolored floral decorations.

The two pedestals share the same construction: upper square wooden top, four long vertical supports, openwork vertical elements and shaped crosspieces in the central and lower part.

The ceramic medallions constitute the main decorative element. The motifs differ on the two pieces but conceived in the same style: one features a large pink flower with dark green leaves on an ivory background, while the other features a more elaborate floral decoration in tones of red, green, yellow and purple.

On the surface of the ceramic glaze you can see the crazing of the glaze, particularly evident in the form with the pink flower.

For constructional and decorative characteristics, the pair can be traced to the eclectic/Liberty taste of the first half of the 20th century, with Orientalist references widespread in European furniture of the period.

The wood retains its finish and shows visible grain, especially on the upper surfaces. There are marks, small abrasions and irregularities compatible with age and use, clearly documented in the photographs. The pair is overall in excellent condition.

Suitable for original use as plant stands or as pedestals for ceramics, sculptures and other decorative objects.

Sold exclusively as a pair.

Materials: solid wood and glazed ceramic
Attributed period: first half of the 20th century
Style: eclectic / Liberty with Orientalist influences
Number of items: 2
Conditions: excellent, with normal signs and patina compatible with age and use.

The pedestals were purchased from an antiquarian shop in my city and, at the time of purchase, had already undergone conservative restoration. Since then they have been cared for with care and regularly cleaned and polished using products specific to the maintenance and care of antique wood. The wood retains a beautiful patina and shows the normal traces of time and use, visible in the photographs.

The photographs constitute an integral part of the description and show in detail the state of preservation of the two objects.

Note: to avoid undocumented attributions, no precise dating is indicated; the pair is offered on the basis of the visible stylistic and construction characteristics.

Given the size of the pedestals and my work commitments, I do not ship; pickup is entirely at the expense of the final buyer.
