Education/demonstration model - Plastic - 1970-1980 - Realistic model

Wheat kernel, this model shows a grain of common wheat (Triticum aestivum) divided lengthwise, approximately 75× magnified.
The germ, or embryo, can be removed and the component shows the layers of the germ.

The cell layers of the fused fruit and seed coat are shown by transverse, longitudinal, and surface cross-sections.
The rest of the starchy cushion, the "beard", is located at the tip opposite the basal germ layer.
The model consists of 2 parts and stands on a green plastic base.

The model has been used for HBO teacher education programs and vocational education for millers.
