Description from the seller
Antique Art Nouveau / Jugendstil Ceramic Serving Tray with Brass/Metal Handles – Ceramic and Metal, 35 cm
This is a beautiful, authentic antique serving tray from the Art Nouveau / Jugendstil period (circa 1900–1915). It features a round ceramic center decorated with an elegant, stylized geometric and floral motif in soft blue, cream, and gold tones, beautifully framed in an openwork metal rim with integrated dual handles.
While the maker's mark is not explicitly stamped, the design language, construction, and the specific base markings ("L76" and "2 B 80") point strongly towards a German or Austrian heritage—highly characteristic of the acclaimed Art Nouveau ceramics produced by makers such as Wächtersbach (Kunstabteilung) or contemporary Austrian workshops of the early 20th century.
Condition Report:
This item is over a century old and is sold in its genuine, weathered antique condition:
• Ceramic: The glossy glaze shows fine, age-related crazing (krakelering) across the surface, which adds wonderful vintage character without compromising the structural integrity of the ceramic plate.
• Metalwork / Frame: The metal rim and handles show signs of age, including some tarnish, minor surface wear, and age-related imperfections/blemishes to the metal finish.
An exceptional collector's piece or decorative statement for a vintage-inspired home:
• Period: Art Nouveau / Jugendstil (c. 1900–1915)
• Materials: Ceramic, Brass/Metal alloy
• Diameter: 35 cm (including frame/excluding handles)
• Markings on base: L76 / 2 B 80
