Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
Original Mosasaur jaw fragment of the species Eremiasaurus Heterodontus from the Late Cretaceous (100.5–66 million years ago), 16 by 8.5 cm, repaired and reassembled, from Morocco.
Description from the seller
In this lot we auction a mosasaur jaw of good size (16 x 8.5 cm) from the species Eremiasaurus Heterodontus.
Very good preservation, repaired.
It is a very interesting jaw fragment, with a small emerging tooth, and the vascularization structure in the bone can be observed perfectly.
Comes from phosphate mines (main quarries Oued Zem, Sidi Daoui and Sidi Chennane) in the Abdoun Ouled basin, Khouribga Province (Morocco).
Oulad Abdoun is the largest fossil basin, and the northernmost of the main phosphate basins of Morocco.
The phosphate deposits have preserved a large number of vertebrate fossils from the Late Cretaceous to the Eocene.
The fossils include a variety of marine and terrestrial animals, such as mosasaurs, plesiosaurs, pterosaurs, crocodiles, elasmobrachians and dinosaurs.
Each mosasaur species has a type of teeth easily recognizable; in this species, precisely as its name indicates, the most distinctive feature is heterodonty along the entire jaw, with the teeth in the front being somewhat more conical and narrow compared to those in the rear, which had a flatter and wider shape with well-developed carinae, generally a more slender dentition than other large mosasaurs.
A very aesthetic piece, a good fossil, the perfect gift
It comes with an acrylic L-shaped display support for gift display
