Description from the seller
A rare and refined set of door knobs for the Melanzana model M3, designed by Luigi Caccia Dominioni and produced by Azucena, a historic Milanese manufactory founded by the designer himself together with Ignazio Gardella and Corrado Corradi Dell’Acqua.
Among the most celebrated applications of industrial design to interior architecture of the second half of the twentieth century, the Melanzana model is distinguished by its unmistakable organic and asymmetric form, conceived to fit naturally in the hand. An object of extraordinary modernity, in which formal research, ergonomics, and execution quality find a synthesis of great elegance.
Originating from an important private villa in Tuscany, the lot constitutes a rare opportunity for collectors, architects, interior designers, and enthusiasts of Italian design of the twentieth century.
The lot comprises 12 elements, suitable to complete 6 doors on both sides.
Upon request, and separate from this lot, a further set of 12 elements is available for another 6 doors complete with front and back.
