Belgium - Military medal - Belgian silver medal of Saint-Lambert (Médaille de Saint-Lambert)

The decoration was officially instituted on 25 April 1939 by the then Bishop of Liège, Monseigneur Louis-Joseph Kerkhofs. The medal is named after Saint Lambert of Maastricht, the patron saint of the city and the diocese of Liège. The aim at the time (and it remains today) is to honor individuals who have, for decades, dedicated themselves in an exceptional and voluntary way to the local church life.
