AI-assisted summary
Description from the seller
A magnificent ALPA 6b is offered, one of the most valued Swiss mechanical SLR cameras by collectors and photographers. Built with the extraordinary watchmaking precision characteristic of Pignons S.A., the ALPA represents one of the peak examples of European photographic engineering in the 20th century.
The kit includes the legendary Kern Macro-Switar 50mm f/1.8 AR, regarded as one of the most prestigious standard lenses produced for the ALPA system. Made in Switzerland by Kern Aarau, this lens stands out for its exceptional sharpness, excellent APO-standard color reproduction, high microcontrast, and an especially smooth focus transition.
Review done in March 2026, one original cap and a custom B 270 | SCHOTT UV filter included (very difficult to find)
Condition
- Camera in good cosmetic and functional condition for its age.
- Mechanical shutter operating correctly at all speeds.
- Split-image finder clean and bright with minimal dust.
- Auto shutter works correctly.
- The shutter blades are perfectly flat and without tears or perforations.
- Kern Macro-Switar 50mm f/1.8 lens with smooth focusing and diaphragm, no oil.
- Glasses clean, with no visible fungus or haze. May show light signs of use/cleaning.
It is recommended to carefully review the photographs, as they form part of the lot description.
A unique piece for collectors. Tested both with film and when adapting to digital cameras. Photos taken with the lens are included.
ALPA cameras were produced in very small quantities and hand-assembled in Switzerland. Combined with Kern Macro-Switar lenses (limited to about 9,000 pieces of this version), they represent one of the most exclusive and coveted photographic systems in the classic camera market. Their build quality, rarity, and historical prestige make them an excellent piece for both collection and high-level analog photography.
The equipment will be carefully packed to ensure safe transport. Bidders in continental Europe only.
