Indochine & Việt Minh 1941-1946 – Historic lot of 5 complete sheets (250 stamps) in mint never hinged condition, originating from Indochina, with Yvert et Tellier catalogue value over €600.
Description from the seller
Lot "Premium" History: From colonial Indochina to the Việt Minh revolution (1941-1946).
I am offering at auction this exceptional set composed of 5 complete sheets of 50 stamps each (i.e., 250 stamps in total), with no duplicates.
Details of the 5 sheets:
1x Sheet of the Việt Minh provisional issue: black surcharge (3 bars) on Indochina stamp "Roland Garros" (10c + 2c red). With sheet number "001996" in the margin. A major historical piece!
1x Sheet of the Việt Minh provisional issue: red surcharge "Việt Nam Dân Chủ Cộng Hòa" on Indochina stamp "Philippe Pétain" (6c).
1x Sheet Indochina "Philippe Pétain" (1c brown, 1941/1942).
1x Sheet Indochina "Alexandre Yersin" (1 Piastre green, local issue IDÉO 1943).
1x Sheet Indochina "Alexandre Yersin" (15c violet-brown, 1943).
Condition and Quality:
The set is in superb condition for these large locally printed formats from World War II.
The original gum is present on the entire lot (Mint never hinged / MNH), with the natural patina characteristic of this era and of this Asian climate. The margins are complete. To be fully transparent: a minor and perfectly classic separation in the corner of the lower margin of the Pétain/Việt Minh sheet, with no impact on the stamps themselves.
Estimate and Value:
The presence of the two whole Việt Minh sheets (notably the Roland Garros) pushes the overall Yvert & Tellier catalog value for this lot above €600 (and it can even approach €800 to €1,000).
Shipping:
The shipment will be extremely careful. I will protect the sheets flat under rigid reinforced cardboard to fully preserve their integrity. Shipment by registered mail with insurance and tracking number for a 100% secure transaction.
