AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Born in Ravenna in 1950, he moved to Florence at a young age. He began publishing comics in the magazine Il mago, then continued to publish stories and strips that appeared, in the eighties and nineties, in a wide range of publications: from comic magazines such as Il Grifo, Comix and Lupo Alberto to current affairs newspapers like Tutto e Musica, the weekly insert of La Repubblica, for which he created caricature portraits of famous singers. Together with other young authors of the time, moreover, between the late eighties and early nineties he published his comics in specialized magazines such as Hey Rock (publisher Coniglio) where the homonymous strips are published, Animal Comic and Cuori Solitari (ACME editor) and others. Recently he was also published, again for Coniglio, Ogni volta che sono Vasco, a monographic volume that tells an ironic version of the biography of the famous rock singer Vasco Rossi.

A recurring character in Cavezzali’s comics was the stereotype of the short man with a big nose and wide, open eyes, almost entirely hiding his forehead: a cliché that recurred in many of Cavezzali’s works, from the protagonists of his lighthearted comics about God to Ava’s secondary characters.

Cavezzali also had many vignettes, illustrations and short stories published in a wide variety of magazines, in addition to a cycle of stories and illustrations featuring Ava and Palmiro, the duckling created by Sauro Ciantini, a colleague and friend of Cavezzali, published in the magazine Comix. Many of Cavezzali’s stories, especially in the more recent period, were also made in collaboration with the cartoonist James Hogg.

In 2007, again in collaboration with Sauro Ciantini, he published the crime novel Una busta per Grace, published by Neftasia Editore of Pesaro. At Lucca Comix, edition 2019, the publishing house CUT UP published a hardcover book of Ava that collected the complete story that appeared in Lupo Alberto, plus many unpublished vignettes. In Marina di Pietrasanta, from May 11 to June 9, 2019, for the exhibition "Leonardo 500", a vignette on Leonardo da Vinci was exhibited.
