Description from the seller
Description of the Lot:
We are offering at auction a unique and exclusive piece for collectors of cine-camera photos, design enthusiasts, and lovers of Italian history: a Cine-Kodak Reliant 8mm finely reinterpreted in an artistic vein as a tribute to the city of Venice in the 1950s.
Venice has always been an iconic destination for international tourism and, undoubtedly, one of the most photographed and filmed cities in the history of cinema and home movies.
This project stems from the desire to merge the charm of vintage cinematography with the visual nostalgia of the Serenissima in its postwar golden era.
Restoration and design features:
Graphics and desaturated tones: the graphic presentation has been studied across several visual options and applied with a deliberately desaturated color palette. This effect faithfully reproduces the chromatic-time patina typical of vintage postcards or Kodachrome slides from the era.
Innovative technical material: the original leatherette (faux leather) has been replaced with a next-generation synthetic technical material. This new coating offers: wear resistance, tactile water repellency, and resistance to oily solutions. The possibility to handle and use the cine camera again safely without risking damage to the finish.
Iconic details: on the two side panels are depicted two of Venice’s most famous places: on the right side: St. Mark’s Square crowded with passersby and the typical pigeons. On the left side: the Grand Canal near the Rialto Bridge, with traditional vaporetto boats and period-era craft, all harmoniously integrated with the original rings, Cine-Kodak Universal Guide exposure selectors, and the device’s original metal plates. An artwork that unites Kodak’s mechanical engineering of the 1950s with the charm of collectible design. Perfect both as a piece of furniture/interior design for elegant spaces and as the centerpiece within a themed collection.
