Description from the seller
Lorenz Super 51 – Wooden-valve radio from 1951 – Germany
Description:
Original Lorenz Super 51 valve radio, produced in Germany in 1951, an interesting example of post-war European radio production.
The set retains its elegant wooden cabinet, the speaker grille fabric, the large glass tuning scale with the main European stations, and the characteristic visual tuning indicator (the “magic eye”).
Inside, the original chassis with valves, speaker, transformers, and era components is still present. The chassis also bears the PTT control mark dated 1951.
Technical documentation identifies the Lorenz Super 51 as a 4-valve superheterodyne receiver, configured for long, medium, and short waves and for use with an FM module. The power supply is selectable for 110 / 127 / 220 V.
Conditions and operation:
The radio powers on and the valves are energized. However, during the test conducted, it was not possible to receive radio stations. A hum/background noise is present, and when gently nudging some valves, the noise changes.
The cabinet shows normal signs of age and use consistent with an appliance of about 75 years. The speaker fabric also shows light wear. These aspects are clearly documented in the photographs and have not been hidden or restored.
An interesting item for collectors of valve radios, vintage technology, 1950s decor, and restoration of historic radio equipment.
