Salmon-pink pressed glass shallow bowl by Scailmont, Belgium, in the Art Deco style, ca. 1930–1950, with a 34 cm diameter, 4.5 cm height and 1330 g, offered as a decorative object and not intended for food use.
Description from the seller
Zalmroze Pers Glass Scale, 34 centimeters, from Scailmont, from the Art Deco period. A six-pointed star with fans sweeps across the entire mirror, surrounded by small stars and diamonds. The serrated edge catches the light like cut crystal. On a table or sideboard, the bowl in daylight gives a soft salmon-pink glow.
For this object, a Buy Now price has also been set, for those who want to acquire it immediately without waiting.
Description:
A shallow, round bowl with a broad, serrated rim. The entire surface is pressed with a pattern that imitates cut crystal. In the center is a radial star, around it a large hexagonal star with fans and in the segments eight-point stars. The relief is sharp and angular, as with pressed glass. In the central mirror there is a round pressed mark with BELGIQUE. Pressglas-Pavillon shows the same model from Scailmont with the same pressed mark.
About the maker:
The Verrerie de Scailmont in Manage was founded in 1901 and produced decorative glass without crystal. Henri Heemskerk was head designer from 1924 to 1951. The company was known for enameled and satin Art Deco glass and later became one of the longest-lived Belgian pressed glass factories. In 1976 it merged with Durobor. This bowl is from that lineage.
In interior design:
Fits into an Art Deco, vintage or classical interior, as a centerpiece on a sideboard or dining table. The salmon-pink glass comes into its own in daylight. Ideal bowl for a festively laid table and for the coming holidays.
Condition:
Good. Vintage condition with signs of use on the underside. Rim and mirror: no chips, hairline cracks or restorations observed. The sharp relief and the alternating salmon-pink tints are characteristic of the production. See the photos. Offered as a decorative object, not intended for use with food.
