Description from the seller
Antique tambour-door desk by Wilh. Fehlinger & Söhne – Vienna, early 1900s
I am selling a refined wooden desk with tambour closure, made by the Viennese manufactory **Wilh. Fehlinger & Söhne**. The piece bears the factory’s original plaque, located at Rittergasse 3, in Vienna.
The desk features two lateral file drawers, a wide work surface, small drawers and internal compartments, as well as two convenient pull-out panels. The Fehlinger manufactory is documented in Viennese furniture production from the early twentieth century.
Particularly fascinating is the security system: when the tambour is closed, the drawers stay locked. A precise sequence of movements also allows opening a **secret drawer**, intended for the custody of documents and personal belongings.
The piece preserves the natural signs of time, including ink traces on the top that tell its story. A characterful piece, ideal for collectors, professional offices, or environments furnished in a classical style.
According to available information, the company is still active today, maintaining its link with Viennese artisanal and productive tradition. The original plaque thus represents another element of historical and collectible interest.
**Shipping excluded.** For more information or to view it, please contact me.
