Description from the seller
Magnificent 22-piece dinner service, branded S.C. Richard – Made in Italy, tied to the tradition of Società Ceramica Richard and to the history of the famous Richard-Ginori. Approximate era: early 20th century.
An extraordinarily elegant service, in which the ivory background meets a beautiful blue rim, accompanied by a thin inner filet. The gently undulating profiles give movement to the shapes, while the sobriety of the decoration highlights the beauty of the ceramic. A refined ensemble, capable of evoking classic tables and also adorning a contemporary setting splendidly.
Particularly dramatic is the tureen with lid and shaped handles, which echoes the blue decoration and completes the service harmoniously.
The composition includes:
• 6 flat plates;
• 6 soup plates;
• 6 appetizer or dessert plates;
• 1 tureen with lid, counted as a single piece;
• 1 round serving plate;
• 1 oval serving plate;
• 1 serving bowl / salad bowl.
Total: 22 pieces.
The brand recalls an important page in Italian ceramics: in 1896 Società Ceramica Richard joined Ginori of Doccia, giving rise to Richard-Ginori, a name of reference in the history of tableware and Italian decorative arts.
In good overall condition, with a marked and evocative craquelure of the glaze, clearly visible in the photographs, especially on the tureen and on some plates. There are also light signs of use, slight color variations and wear to the blue filet. Craquelure is a network of fine cracks in the glazed surface, to be distinguished from fractures of the ceramic body; it is expressly noted as a characteristic of the state of conservation.
A timelessly charming service: blue, ivory and sinuous shapes create a delicate but unmistakable presence, perfect for those who love historical ceramics and tables rich in personality.
