Two identical Art Nouveau Dutch silver sour forks with two tines by C.J. Begeer (1868–1920), length 19.2 cm, .833 silver, supplied in the original luxury case.
Description from the seller
This concerns 2 identical Art Nouveau Dutch silver sour forks with 2 tines by C.J. Begeer in an original luxury case. The handles of the forks are made of silver and beautifully worked with floral motifs (see photos). The prong portion is made of metal. It is logical that the prong portion is not silver, because silver tarnishes upon contact with acids. The forks are also suitable as meat forks, but were originally intended as sour/augur forks. The forks are identically marked and belong together. They form a set.
These Art Nouveau sour/meat forks come from an inheritance/estate of a family from Voorburg. Edel Erfgoed may offer these cutlery pieces on Catawiki for a MINIMUM/RESERVE PRICE of 125 euros.
