Description from the seller
Hello
Today at the auction I have the pleasure to present to you
The icon of world design – the Aalto vase (also known as the Savoy vase), produced by the well-known Finnish brand Iittala.
This design was created in 1936 by one of the most important Nordic architects and designers, Alvar Aalto, together with his wife Aino.
The characteristic, wavy and organic shape of the vase was inspired by the Finnish landscape – the coastline of the lakes there and the form of traditional, leather pants of Finnish Eskimos.
The vase gained enormous fame after it was presented at the World’s Fair in Paris in 1937.
The version shown in the photo is made of white opal glass (double-layer). Each original vase of this brand is traditionally hand-blown in a glassworks in Finland
Size 9x12 cm
Condition: very good
