Description from the seller
Rare Vintage Wooden Motor Boat ITO / TMY Model "G 20" - Length 47 cm - Scale 1:12 - Japan '50s - FUNCTIONAL
Description:
Up for auction is a splendid and very rare example of a wooden runabout toy boat, produced in Japan in the 1950s by renowned historic brands of vintage model-making such as ITO. This is the iconic Model G 20. The model has a striking presence thanks to a hull length of 47 cm in 1:12 scale.
The motorboat is equipped with its original internal electric motor block branded TMY with a dual-gear transmission and a premium dual-contrarotating propeller configuration (Twin Screw) with the original central metallic rudder bearing the inscription "JAPAN".
MECHANICAL CONDITIONS:
• Fully functional: The internal motor has been successfully tested.
• Realistic ignition from the steering wheel: The original ignition system is integrated into the dashboard; the engine starts by operating directly on the original wheel in the cabin with a single click on the left side—a remarkable old-engineering gem exceptionally preserved.
• The metal lever located on the stern mirror acts as a linkage for rudder adjustment and locking.
ESTHETIC AND CONSERVATION CONDITIONS:
The model is completely original, never restored, and retains all rare deck accessories from the era: the original wooden/fabric lifebuoy with the printed text "SPEED BOAT", the intact metallic windshield, the chrome horns, the prow emblem with a perforated star and the complete two-tone navigation lights (red and green) with lenses.
• Matching Numbers / Model Code: Inside the hull, on the original wood, there is the production signature "G 20" handwritten at the time in the factory, a precious identifying detail that certifies the model’s authenticity and the consistency of the assembly components.
Signs of aging (Original Patina):
As visible in the detailed photographs, the original red paint shows some chips and paint losses concentrated symmetrically along the hull edge on both sides (port and starboard), consistent with historical display on a pedestal or vintage water use. The underlying wood is healthy and solid. This honest wear certifies the authenticity and historical value of the piece, which has not undergone any artificial modern touch-ups.
A piece for serious collectors, exceptionally preserved in its mechanics.
Tracked shipping and customized professional packaging to protect the hull."}
