Catherine Deneuve - Les Parapluies de Cherbourg - Japanese B2 Cinema Poster — c.1972

Vintage Japanese theatrical re-release poster for Jacques Demy’s 1964 musical, starring Catherine Deneuve and Nino Castelnuovo, with music by Michel Legrand.

This design combines a large portrait of Deneuve with the lovers beneath a lilac umbrella, a procession of umbrella-carrying figures and turquoise Japanese lettering. A striking Japanese interpretation of the film’s romantic atmosphere.

This edition is generally catalogued as the 1972 Japanese re-release.

Condition:
Good overall display appearance, with visible signs of age and handling. There are soft creases, paper undulations and edge wear, together with tears at the upper and left edges. The upper tear shows a small area of surface colour loss. Two reinforcing tape strips are visible on the reverse; their archival properties are not documented.
