Offered for auction is a remarkably substantial and heavy antique campaign-style display box, dating from the turn of the 20th century. Built with exceptionally thick solid wood walls, this robust box was originally designed as a high-quality traveling presentation case or marine instrument chest, making it an ideal luxury vitrine today for high-end watches, jewelry, or rare coins.

Condition Report:
The box is in beautiful, unaltered antique condition with fantastic historical character. The exterior wood showcases a deep, warm reddish-brown tone with genuine micro-cracking (alligatoring) to the original lacquer finish.
Crucially, the underside of the box displays a stable, partial grain split (blind checking) that extends only halfway across the base panel. This is a completely natural aging characteristic of dense old-growth timber shrinking over the course of a century; it does not compromise the structural integrity of the box, does not go completely through the panel, and leaves the structural frame perfectly tight and secure. The mitered corners are sound, and the hinges and latch function flawlessly.
