AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Beautiful Loetz Jugendstil vase – iridescent green glass with gold- and pink reflections – ca. 1900–1910
A particularly beautiful and elegant Jugendstil vase, executed in the characteristic iridescent glass of Loetz. The vase has a very refined, slender form with a strongly formed, bulbous body that transitions into a long, gracefully tapering neck and a broad, lightly outward-tilting foot.

The glass has a splendid olive-green to yellow-green ground color, in which, depending on the light, wonderful gold-colored, pink and subtle blue iridescent reflections appear. Especially on the body the typical lively surface treatment of the glass is clearly visible. The fine, flowing glass structure gives the surface a decorative and almost organic character, entirely fitting the aesthetic of Viennese Jugendstil.

The form is particularly successful: the broad rounded foot provides a sturdy base, while the long, slender neck and the slightly outward-bent lip give the vase a distinctly elegant appearance. The broad body gradually narrows toward the neck and is equipped with subtle vertical movements in the glass, causing the object from every angle to react differently to the light.

The underside shows a carefully finished, polished pontil. The combination of the form, the iridescent glass, the characteristic color scheme and the finish is very typical of the high-quality Bohemian glass production of Loetz Witwe from the period around 1900.

The vase is not signed, which is common with Loetz from this period. The piece is attributed to Loetz, Klostermühle, Bohemia, circa 1900–1910.
