Description from the seller
Bronze fibula with red enamels and circular decoration – 1st–3rd centuries AD.
Culture: Roman.
Period: Roman Empire, 1st–3rd centuries AD (reference chronology).
Material: Bronze with red enamel decoration.
Measurements: 35 × 18 × 5 mm.
Auction description:
The piece presents a body with a symmetrical outline, with four small ornamental fields distributed around a prominent circular central medallion, decorated with concentric raised rings and a small central knop.
Especially interesting is the preservation of the four enamelled fields in reddish tones, in which delicate linear motifs are still discernible, contrasting with the bronze surface.
The composition is completed by small lateral projections, a pointed lower termination, and a solid upper suspension ring.
The piece preserves a beautiful dark green archaeological patina, with mineral deposits and ochre tones that enhance its ornamentation.
Condition: Good overall conservation, with upper ring, well-defined central decoration, significant remains of red enamel, and attractive superficial patina.
