Description from the seller
First 1991 edition of Stromboli, one of Claude Nori's most personal works, photographer, publisher and major figure in French photographic books.
Published in 1991 by Éditions Contrejour, a house founded by Claude Nori and essential in the history of French photographic publishing, this work is today relatively uncommon in its first edition.
Created following several stays by Claude Nori on the volcanic island at the end of the 1980s, Stromboli constitutes an intimate and poetic evocation of this mythical Mediterranean territory. The photographer blends travel, memory, landscapes, portraits and scenes of daily life, while echoing the cinematic imagination attached to the island and the famous Roberto Rossellini film with Ingrid Bergman.
Designed as a large-format photographic portfolio, the work adopts a deliberately sober layout that leaves full space to the images. The Mediterranean light, the volcano, the inhabitants and daily scenes compose a sensitive and autobiographical vision of Stromboli, characteristic of Claude Nori's oeuvre.
The book shows some obvious signs of use (for example, a bent corner) but remains in very good condition, as the attached photos show.
The book will be packed carefully and shipped with tracking.
