AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Rare ozone-generating fan "Calor Ozonair" - Industrial Style - France, c. 1920-1940.

Motor in operation!

Exceptional and very scarce technical collectable piece: a fan with an integrated ozone generator from the renowned French firm Calor, marketed under the Ozonair patent. Unlike conventional domestic fans of the era, this high-end hybrid model combined mechanical ventilation with an air purification and disinfection system using ozone, a true hygienic avant-garde of the first half of the 20th century.

Keeps its original front brass plate in a diamond shape with the engraved inscription: “OZONAIR - MARQUE DÉPOSÉE”.

Country of origin: France.
Estimated period: 1920s - 1940s.
Materials: Lower frame made of stamped iron sheet, motor with protective housing, rod-wire safety grille and metal blades.
Dimensions: 32 cm high x 18 cm wide x 20 cm deep.
Weight: 2.5 kg.

Founded at the beginning of the 20th century, the French brand Calor was a pioneer in the manufacture of small appliances in Europe. This model in particular used an advanced patent intended not only to refresh spaces but to hygienize the air in offices, clinics or bourgeois residences of the era through the corona effect (internal electrical discharges that convert oxygen into ozone). Its striking cubic design with geometric ventilation perforations makes it a coveted piece of primitive industrial aesthetics today.

Condition: Conserved, Tested and working.

Mechanical and motor: The fan has been tested and is in working order. The motor responds correctly and the blades rotate smoothly. Finding an operational motor in such ancient pieces substantially increases its collector value.

Aesthetics: It displays a magnificent and authentic surface oxidation patina and natural wear distributed across the iron sheet, confirming its age and giving it a purely industrial character.

Keeps its original braided electrical cord with textile insulation from the period, a historically valuable aesthetic detail for purists of collecting.

Although the unit functions, the internal insulation of the cloth-wrapped wires tends to dry out over the decades. A thorough inspection or internal rewiring is recommended for safety if prolonged use is planned.

Ozone system: The internal generator block has not been thoroughly inspected and, for safety, it is sold primarily for decorative purposes, display, or as a technical restoration project regarding the purifying function.

An exceedingly rare piece in mechanical antique markets, ideal to feature in any technical collection or as a unique interior design object.
