Description from the seller
Magnificent set of 2 manuscripts bearing the signature of the Marquis of Campo Villar. 2 manuscripts of 11 pages in total with an entail and a detailed inventory and royal warrants of the Marquis of Campo de Villar.
The III Marquis of Campo de Villar, Manuel Muñiz y Valdés. Belonging to the Asturian military nobility, he pursued his career in the armed forces and in the state administration during the transition from the Old Regime to the Napoleonic crisis.
He played a relevant role in the War of Independence (1808-1814): During the French invasion he remained aligned with the Spanish patriotic cause. In those years of deep territorial and military reorganization, he intervened in the calls and juntas that coordinated the forces against the Napoleonic troops, fully experiencing the milestones of the Cortes of Cádiz of 1812 and the subsequent monarchical restoration of 1814.
He married María Manuela Manjón y Dávila. From this marriage was born Alonso Muñiz y Manjón, who would inherit the title as the IV Marquis of Campo de Villar and would continue the family tradition in the Spanish nobility and administration of the 19th century.
Excellent pieces, carefully selected.
Ideal for collectors, lovers of old paper and history, and also for those who want to decorate a space with charm.
Original from the period. Great opportunity, no reserve price.
