A set of two vintage tulip-shaped table lamps with acrylic flower shades and dark ribbed steel stems, made in France and dating from 1980–1990, in good used condition and in working order, each about 50 cm high and 15 cm wide.
Description from the seller
A distinctive set of two decorative vintage table lamps in the shape of elegant, open tulips or goblet flowers.
These striking lamps combine a graceful, organic design with warm, atmospheric light.
The flower-shaped lampshades, made of a soft cream-colored, translucent material, give the lamps a particularly sculptural character.
When the lamps are lit, the light spreads beautifully through the petals. This creates a warm, golden glow that further emphasizes the graceful forms and the subtle texture of the material.
Design and form
The lamps are inspired by the natural shapes of flowers. The asymmetrically formed cups consist of gracefully curved, overlapping petals that open around the light source.
In the heart of each flower there is a decorative, flame-shaped light source, which elegantly reinforces the floral motif.
The lampshades each have their own shape and appearance, so the lamps together form a playful and lively whole.
The slender, dark-colored, ribbed necks create a nice contrast with the light flower bowls. Thanks to the flexible construction, the flowers can be positioned in different directions.
Both lamps stand on sturdy, conical metal bases with a brushed silvery finish. These give the design a pleasing contrast between industrial materials and soft, natural forms.
Style and appearance
The design beautifully aligns with the organic design movements of the second half of the 20th century and has a distinctive vintage look.
The combination of flower shapes, metal and warm lighting evokes decorative designs from the 1970s and 1980s.
These lamps come particularly into their own in a vintage, retro, eclectic or modern interior. They are suitable both as functional ambient lighting and as decorative design objects.
Because of their sculptural form, they are also true eye-catchers during the day, when the lighting is off.
