Empire Style Architectural base - 1850-1900 - mantel clock wooden base

An antique carved and gold-painted wooden architectural base/display plateau (aka French gilt plateau), weighing 450 gr, made of solid wood/not hollow, in the Empire style (early-mid 19th century).

Architectural bases of this type were traditionally used as decorative supports for mantel clocks and table clocks, and were sometimes repurposed or adapted for displaying jewellery and other small decorative objects. Their architectural design and ornamental detailing made them versatile elements of Art Deco/Empire decorative arts.
