Description from the seller

Junghans – Antique table pendulum clock – Germany, circa 1890–1900

Fascinating mechanical desk clock with a dial bearing the mark of the historic German manufactory Junghans, renowned for quality clockmaking since the 19th century.

The piece is presumably datable to the late 19th century and early 20th century, a period of great development in German mechanical watchmaking.

The clock features an elegant wooden case with fluted borders, a front glass door, and a distinctive top metal handle.

Particularly decorative is the dial with Roman numerals, a gilded frame, and the historic Junghans star stamp. At the center there is a numbered disc from 1 to 12, presumably connected to a mechanical alarm function, to be verified.

The pendulum retains the characteristic medallion with the letters R–A, indications used for adjusting the rate.

Specifications:
- Dial brand: Junghans.
- Claimed provenance: Germany.
- Probable era: circa 1890–1900.
- Height: 29 cm.
- Movement: mechanical spring.
- Pendulum present.
- Dial with Roman numerals and gilded details.
- Wooden case with a glass-front door.
- Top metal handle.

Condition

The clock shows signs of use and aging consistent with its alleged era.

The case has been repainted in the past with a light gray antique-looking finish. Some portions of the original wood are visible. The rear panel appears replaced.

The dial retains a pleasant patina and shows widespread surface crazing. The metal parts show oxidation and signs of use.

The movement has not been tested. The clock is sold as untested, with possible need for cleaning, regulation, or overhaul by a specialized watchmaker.

An interesting example of historic clockmaking, ideal for collectors, lovers of antique mechanics, or to furnish classic and refined interiors.

Photographs are an integral part of the description and show in detail the condition of preservation.

The item will be packaged with particular care, protecting the glass, the dial, and the mechanism. The pendulum will be secured separately during transport.
