Original Entwürfe, Architektur, Möbel, um 1902 is a signed English-language-printed portfolio by J. Anders, presenting 37 German architectural and furniture drawings from around 1902 to 1907, in its Erstauflage, in good condition.
Description from the seller
J. Anders – Original designs, architecture, furniture, circa 1902
J. Anders: 37 designs, partly in watercolor, from the Detmold cabinetmaking school (signed J. Anders / drawn ANDERS), dated May and August 1902 and 1907 (the year on the sheets is legible as 2 or 7; stamp of the Detmold Cabinetmaking School).
Various formats, from 24 × 31 cm up to 63 × 45 cm. Included are shadow constructions, figurative geometry, and studies of cornices and profiles.
Also included are 5 large-format design drawings for historicist furniture and interior design, including a “modernized sideboard” (top/bottom sections) with cross-section drawings. Each drawing measures approximately 180 × 115 cm. Student works, not attributable to any known architect.
Rules noted on the back of one of the drawings:
Shadow construction.
First the base plan and elevation of the body are drawn; then the shadow of the body falls, i.e., the self-shadow is determined. On this body part now the entire base plan drop shadow as well as the entire elevation drop shadow are drawn. From this it follows that the two drop shadows intersect on the axis.
Please note the following rules:
1. For the base plan drop shadow, the lower ray goes under 45° to the axis and in front of the vertical onto the ray coming from below.
2. For the elevation drop shadow, the lower ray goes under 45° to the axis and in front of the vertical onto the ray coming from above.
3. Where there is a self-shadow, no drop shadow can appear on it anymore.
4. The base plan shadow of a surface parallel to the axis has exactly the shape and size of the surface itself.
5. The elevation drop shadow of a surface parallel to the elevation has exactly the shape and size of the surface itself.
6. If the shadow is drawn obliquely, the light always hits the point where the axis intersects the main axis, from the ray coming from below.
As these are fragile originals, the condition accordingly reflects the thin tracing papers, etc. Corners slightly bumped,
From a non-smoking household.
Shipping: For buyers in the EU & internationally, shipping is via DHL.
