Icon - Three saints - Wood

Very rare, antique Russian icon "Guardian Angel, with the Martyr Boniface and the Prophet Moses" from the 19th century.

Above the saints, Jesus Christ hovers on a cloud.

Hand-painted with egg tempera colors on a wooden panel with a chalk ground and gold background. A typical method of icon creation in 18th- and 19th-century Tsarist Russia.

The painting is masterfully and finely executed (see photos). Perfectly coordinated color contrasts and successful shading. The painting contains very fine craquelure (see photos). Partial restorations and corrections are present (see photos).

This is an Old Believers icon. Furthermore, there is on the back of the icon an expert assessment confirming the authenticity of the icon (see photos).

Two cross-bracing pieces are missing on the back.

The icon is in good condition with typical, age-related signs of wear (see photos). Heavy and sturdy wooden panel.
