Description from the seller
Roman bronze fibula with decoration of concentric circles — 2nd–3rd centuries AD.
Period: Roman Empire.
Dating: 2nd–3rd centuries AD.
Material: Bronze.
Typology: Diamond-shaped plate fibula.
Interesting Roman fibula made in cast bronze, with an elegant geometric diamond-shaped design, with four projections ending in small decorative widenings.
Its main face features an elaborate central decoration formed by relief concentric circles, arranged around a small circular motif.
On the reverse are visible the elements of the ancient fixing system, used to secure tunics, cloaks and other garments.
Fibulae constituted one of the most characteristic accessories of Roman attire, combining their practical function with an important ornamental component.
State of conservation: Preserves its main structure and good definition of the decorative motifs. It presents an attractive archaeological patina in green and brown tones, with mineral deposits and signs of age.
An interesting example of Roman metalwork, especially appealing for its geometric composition and concentric decoration.
