Description from the seller
IN RISALTO:
• Very rare Fiat 600 "Rendez Vous" shooting-brake with Vignale bodywork built to a design by Giovanni Michelotti
• One of the only 16-20 units produced worldwide between 1955 and 1959
• Retains the original black license plates and period documents from the first Italian registration
• Advanced total restoration project (60-70% completed) including stripped chassis, rebuilt floors and longitudinals
• Complete with all original components, including glass, engine and trims dismantled and cataloged
HISTORY/PANORAMA:
The Fiat 600 "Rendez Vous", produced by Carrozzeria Vignale on a design by Giovanni Michelotti between 1955 and 1959, represents one of the rarest and most elegant coachwork on the famous 600 platform. Characterized by a coupe line inspired by the design of the Lancia Aurelia B20/B52 and Fiat 8Vs signed by the same Michelotti, it was built in a very limited run estimated at about 16-20 units destined for a wealthy and refined clientele. This 1957 example has been found in Italy, preserving its documents and original period plates. About nine years ago, a major professional restoration project was started, bringing the work to an advanced stage of about 70%. It is currently offered as a work of art to be completed, complete with all its original parts, carefully cataloged and stored in a box.
BODYWORK/PAINTING:
The bodywork underwent an initial phase of structural restoration and sheet metal work performed by master artisans: full disassembly, total sandblasting, application of two coats of epoxy primer, clamping in a jig with welded supporting cross-members, total reconstruction of the longitudinals in accordance with the original, installation of new floors, reconstruction of the door sills and the lower part of the nose. Subsequently, a first filling was carried out, applying two coats of white acrylic primer. All sheet metal has been welded to reach an excellent machining point. All glass remains (windshield, rear window, side windows) and external sheet metal parts (doors and hoods) are present. The car wears original period Borrani/Mille Miglia wheels and period-correct tires.
INTERIORS:
The interiors are present and preserved but require a complete restoration/refitting. The upholstery, panels, dashboard and cabin trims have been dismantled, cataloged and preserved separately to allow subsequent assembly and reupholstering.
MECHANICS:
The original mechanical component includes the period Fiat 600 engine and the drivetrain/suspension assembly. The front and rear suspension arms have been sandblasted and protected with two coats of black epoxy primer. All dismantled mechanical components are preserved and require inspection and final reassembly.
DOCUMENTS:
The car comes with the original Italian circulating documents from the period and its original first-registration black plates.
The car is viewable and can be picked up in Viareggio, Italy.

Disclaimer
Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
