[11-10, 18:36] Leon: Heavy Antique French Brass & Steel Built-Up Lock with Door Knob and Strike Plate – Louis XV / Rococo Style, ca. 1870
Offered is a rare, extremely heavy and high-quality antique built-up lock (serrure and applique) with the accompanying strike plate and original brass knob. This imposing castle lock dates from the second half of the 19th century (France, ca. 1850-1890) and is executed in the richly decorated Louis XV / Rococo revival style. The overall dimensions are 19 x 8 x 8 cm and it has a very solid weight of no less than 2400 grams (2.4 kg). The iron/steel cabinet is surrounded by splendid cast brass ormolu borders with acanthus leaves and rocalla. The accompanying knob is also richly chiselled with floral motifs. The spring mechanism for the knob and the staple works as it should. Currently there is no key present, but a suitable barber’s key can possibly be produced by a key specialist. The lock is in a beautiful, authentic condition with a lovely patina that underscores its great age. A fantastic restoration object for a historic townhouse, castle door, or as an exclusive decorative element in a classic interior. The lot will be packed with utmost care and sent with registered mail with track & trace."}
