Description from the seller
Roman bronze signet ring with an archer engraved
Roman period, 2nd–4th centuries CE
Bronze.
Interesting bronze signet ring with an oval bezel carved in intaglio, decorated with the representation of an archer. The composition shows a schematic yet expressive figure, expressed with notable linear strength, typical of ancient glyptic art.
A piece of great iconographic interest, both for its function as a personal seal and for the presence of a warfare and hunting motif that is very characteristic of the classical repertoire.
