IKEA - Floor lamp (2) - VISTOFTA - Plastic, Metal - Matching Set

A particularly decorative and increasingly hard-to-find matching set of two IKEA VISTOFTA floor lamps, type G0608. A distinctive Scandinavian design with pronounced graphic styling, fitting within the mid-century/postmodern interior design of the 1980s.

The lamps feature an elegant, slim construction consisting of two black metal columns on a sturdy geometrically shaped black base. The most striking component is the tall, tapering white lampshade. The shade is made up of curved, light-diffusing segments accented by vertical black profiles. This creates a strong contrast between black and white and gives the lamps a recognizable architectural character.

When the lamps are switched on, the white shades diffuse the light pleasantly and evenly. The light source remains largely out of sight, producing a warm and atmospheric illumination. They particularly come into their own as a pair, for example on either side of a sofa, sideboard, or in a spacious living room.

Specifications and details

These are two matching specimens of the same model. At the bottom there is the original IKEA product label including:

IKEA – VISTOFTA – type G0608
110–240 V / 50–60 Hz
Max. 75 W
Made in Lithuania

Both lamps also feature a floor switch/dimmer in the cord, so the lighting can be easily operated from the floor.

The VISTOFTA is typically attributed in vintage circles to Gunner Jensen for IKEA and is associated with Scandinavian design of the 1980s.

Dimensions
Per lamp approx.:
Height: 137 cm
Maximum shade diameter/width: approx. 33 cm
Base: approx. 19 × 19 cm

Due to their height of about 137 cm, they are relatively slender floor lamps that, despite their striking form, do not take up a lot of floor space.

Condition
The lamps are in good vintage condition with signs of use appropriate to age and use. On the black bases and other parts there are localized light scratches, discolorations and signs of use. The shades may also show minor aging and wear.

These signs of wear are shown as clearly as possible in the detail photos and are part of the description. The set presents very attractively as a whole.

Both lamps have been tested and are functioning.

The photos are an integral part of the condition description and show, among other things, the shades, construction, bases, underside, operation and the original IKEA label.

Summary
A beautiful and decorative set of two IKEA VISTOFTA G0608 floor lamps, interesting for collectors and enthusiasts of vintage IKEA, Scandinavian design and 1980s/postmodern interior design. The fact that two identical pieces are offered as a pair makes the set even more appealing.
