Description from the seller
This best-preserved Anchiornis fossil is quite large, the largest I've ever seen. The porcelain-like luster on its teeth is clearly visible, and it has distinct feathers. The claws and toes retain their keratinous sheaths, and the claws are shown in a textbook-perfect posture.
Anchiornis played a crucial role in the evolution from dinosaurs to birds. More primitive than Archaeopteryx, it appeared millions of years earlier, with a larger head, larger teeth, a longer tail, and more caudal vertebrae. While its wings were less developed than those of birds, its hands and claws were more advanced; overall, it is closer to a dinosaur.
This is significant for understanding the evolution of birds and their flight capabilities. It represents a transitional stage from early dinosaur species to more advanced bird species. It lived in the Middle or Late Jurassic period and was a feathered theropod dinosaur.
