Two handmade Chinese Pekin carpets from the 1950s–1960s, wool on cotton, each 165 × 68 cm, origin China, model China Pekin, in very good condition with fringe missing on one end.
Description from the seller
We present a magnificent pair of authentic Beijing Chinese carpets, ideal as bed-foot rugs and entirely handmade during the 1950–1960 period.
Both pieces are woven in high-quality wool on a cotton foundation. They feature an interesting traditional Chinese design, headed by a central dragon and accompanied by stylized bats, traditional symbols of good fortune. The border is decorated with Shou medallions, associated with longevity, and traditional geometric motifs.
They are in very good condition considering their age. They only show the loss of some fringe on one end, as can be seen in the photographs. A light professional cleaning is recommended to remove accumulated dust and refresh the pile.
An antique, decorative and very interesting set, of excellent quality and difficult to find preserved as a pair.
