Set of 11 clear hand-blown Venetian glass dessert wine or liqueur glasses and one bottle with stopper, by S.I.V.A. Indovino Venezia, circa 1900–1910, with hand-engraved satinized baroque motifs featuring a lady and a cavalier.
Description from the seller
Set of 11 sweet wine (passito) or liqueur glasses, height 7.4 cm x diameter 5.5 cm, and one bottle with stopper, height 26.5 cm x diameter 10.5 cm. Made in refined clear glass, mouth-blown in Venetian glass, each glass offers an enchanting hand-satin-engraved design, recalling the sophisticated styles of the 18th century. The engraved motifs, with interlaces, leaves, scrolls and noble figures, confer a timeless charm that will captivate attention on any occasion. Perfect for enhancing your evenings and ensuring impeccable service, these glasses represent an elegant complement to your collection. Their classic beauty makes them ideal for any event, from formal dinners to intimate moments. The goblets belong to the glassware: S.I.V.A. (Società Industrie Vetrarie Artistiche) M. Indovino Venezia; they are antique Italian glassware objects for collection, dating roughly to the first decade of the 20th century. Decorated with acid treatments, wheel engravings, or details and finishes themed. The glasses have a slightly flared shape (inverted cone trunk) resting on a thick, sturdy base with a ring. The decoration is Baroque in style with an engraving of a lady with a knight. Vetrària SIVA, founded and based in Venice during the 20th century (with production particularly active and appreciated in the first half of the century, circa the 1910s-1930s), the company of Mario Indovino specialized in creating artistic glass and high-quality tableware. SIVA was renowned for its mastery of acid engraving and hand finishes. This technique allowed obtaining that characteristic cameo effect, velvety and slightly shaded, perfect for vegetal figures, foliate motifs and dynamism (such as the juggler/dancer on the balloon goblet). The pieces bore the original label on paper: an oval or rectangular label with the wording SIVAM INDOVINO VENEZIA. Highly sought after in the market of antiques and collectors of fine art glass.
